Reunions - Past & Future

Despite the descendants of Cornelius & Margaret Kennedy now residing all over the world, i.e. USA, Australia & Ireland, the Kennedy family bond remains. This is evidenced by the many family reunions which have been held over the years and the never-ending stream of visitors to the original home in Dolla. Please add me to the Dolla Reunion Mailing ListThese visits "home" are evidenced by many letters still held by family members talking of the fun times had in and around Dolla and the folks they met along the way.

If you would like to be included on the Reunion Mailing List please click on the Email Me button to the right.

WHAT A WEEKEND IN MT GAMBIER!

Special thanks to all those who put in many hours of preparation to carry off this amazing weekend of family re-connections! A huge thank you especially to John Ormond Kennedy for his great organisational skills and to Lawrence Kennedy and his team at Sunny Brae for the hospitality shown to all during our special afternoon tea and memorabilia sharing.

We were blessed to have so many friends gathered together, including Willie Kennedy from Dolla via Seattle.

The particular weekend (3rd & 4th July) was especially chosen to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the death of John Kennedy (late of Peweena, Mt Gambier).

For those of you who were unable to join us we have summarised below the events of the weekend.

Saturday, 3 July
2pm-5pm: Kennedy Places Tour: Gathered at John Kennedy’s grave, Block C (near the entrance), in Mt Gambier’s Lake Terrace Cemetery, Lake Terrace East. Afterwards the long procession of cars travelled along Kennedy Ave/Peweena Road, past Cadzow, Uncle Sam’s House, Peweena Homestead, stop at the Kennedy Picnic Tree (weather did not permit a group photo) and then onwards to Dismal Swamp Homestead down Carney Lake Road, the Wandilo Siding and finish with a wonderful visit to Sunny Brae, afternoon tea and the Kennedy memorabilia on the Sunny Brae  Billiard Table – there were many items brought for show and tell!

7pm: Dinner at Commodore on the Park, corner Penola Rd and Jubilee Highway

Sunday, 4 July
11am: Mass in Thanks for John Kennedy at St Paul’s Church, Penola Road. Fr Richard Morris made us very welcome.  We gathered on the left side of the Church near the St John and St Anne stained glass window in honour of John and Anne and the nearby Jens and Spain windows.

1pm onwards: Kennedy Family Lunch at Jens Town Hall Hotel
